The Best Cheesecake Flavours: Find Your Perfect Slice
Choosing a cheesecake should be easy. Then you see Belgian milk chocolate, Kinder, pistachio, Lotus Biscoff, raspberry and salted caramel all sitting on the same menu.
Suddenly, it is a very serious decision.
At The Grumpy Baker, we know everyone has their own idea of the perfect cheesecake. Some people want as much chocolate as physically possible. Others will choose pistachio every time. Then there are the people who insist they want something simple before changing their minds at the last minute.
To make your next order a little easier, we've put together a guide to our cheesecake flavours and the cravings they were made for, so whether you're ordering in Manchester, Leeds, Blackburn, Bolton, Bradford, Rochdale or Wigan, you'll know exactly what to add to your basket.
What makes a good cheesecake?
It starts with the cheesecake itself.
Before the sauces, toppings and chocolate shavings are added, you need a smooth, creamy cheesecake with a proper biscuit base. The topping should add to it rather than completely hide what's underneath.
That's why our menu includes everything from the simple Plain Jane Vanilla to cheesecakes covered in Kinder sauce, pistachio, Lotus Biscoff and Belgian chocolate.
There is no single “best” cheesecake flavour. It depends entirely on what you're in the mood for.
For the serious chocolate lover
Let's begin with the obvious choice: chocolate.
The Oh My is topped with luxury Belgian milk chocolate sauce, rich cocoa powder and Belgian milk chocolate shavings. It's rich, chocolatey and straight to the point - no fruit sauces or extra distractions. Just cheesecake and plenty of Belgian milk chocolate. This is the one for anyone who automatically picks the most chocolate-heavy option on the menu.
One thing to remember: the Belgian milk chocolate sauce is served warm, so it can harden on top of the cheesecake if you're saving it for later. Ask for the sauce in a separate tub and pour it over when you're ready.
The Jorel solves the milk-vs-white-vs-dark dilemma by giving you all three - good for anyone who believes one type of chocolate is never enough.
The Billie Jean keeps things creamy with Belgian milk chocolate and white chocolate sauce. Still rich, but the white chocolate makes it a touch sweeter and smoother than a fully milk-chocolate-covered slice.
For the Kinder-obsessed
Kinder isn't just a topping - for some people, it's the entire reason for ordering dessert.
The Kinder 2.0 is topped with our in-house Kinder sauce, luxury Belgian milk chocolate sauce and crushed Flake. Creamy Kinder flavour, warm Belgian chocolate, a little texture from the Flake - one of those combinations that doesn't need much explaining.
The OG Kinder combines our in-house Kinder sauce with white chocolate sauce - a slightly simpler choice than the Kinder 2.0, but still delivers that sweet, creamy Kinder flavour throughout.
The Flash pairs Kinder sauce with raspberry sauce. The raspberry cuts through some of the sweetness for a fruitier finish without losing the Kinder flavour.
For pistachio fans
Pistachio has earned its place as one of the biggest dessert flavours around, and our menu gives you several ways to enjoy it.
The Mums Favourite is topped with rich pistachio sauce and crushed roasted and salted pistachios, the one to choose when pistachio is the main event. The chopped pistachios add crunch, while the saltiness balances the sweetness.
The Frank White pairs pistachio sauce with white chocolate - creamy, sweet and ideal if you like pistachio but still want a strong chocolate element.
The Makavelli combines rich pistachio sauce with a drizzle of luxury Belgian milk chocolate sauce, making it deeper and richer than The Frank White while keeping pistachio at the centre.
The Red Lantern mixes pistachio sauce with raspberry sauce - not the first combination you'd think of, but the sharpness of the raspberry works well against the creamy pistachio.
The Bully B is topped with pistachio kunafa and milk chocolate, bringing together creamy cheesecake, crunchy kunafa, pistachio and chocolate.
For the Lotus Biscoff craving
Some cravings are very specific. When you want Lotus Biscoff, another biscuit simply won't do.
The Bronze Bomber is topped with Lotus sauce, crushed Lotus biscuits and white chocolate sauce - the caramelised biscuit flavour balanced with creamy white chocolate. Sweet, crunchy, and made for anyone who always reaches for the Biscoff option first.
For cookies and cream fans
The Rocky Balboa comes with cookies and cream sauce and crushed chocolate biscuit - creamy, chocolatey and full of biscuit crunch. Think of it as the cheesecake choice for anyone whose usual order includes cookies, biscuits or anything cookies-and-cream flavoured.
For something fruity
Not every cheesecake order needs to be covered top to bottom in chocolate. Fruit sauces add a fresher, sharper flavour and help balance the richness of the cheesecake.
The Where's Waldo? combines white chocolate sauce with raspberry sauce - the white chocolate brings the sweetness, the raspberry adds a sharper finish. A good middle ground when you want something fruity but still need chocolate involved.
The Pink Panther takes white chocolate and raspberry sauce and adds chopped Jammy Dodgers - fruity, creamy and a little nostalgic, with extra biscuit texture.
The King of Clubs is topped with freshly made mixed berry coulis and a drizzle of white chocolate - a good all-round fruity option if you can't decide between one berry flavour and another.
The Ace of Spades combines freshly made lemon curd with crushed Swiss meringue - sharp, sweet and a little different from the usual berry-based options.
The Queen of Hearts is topped with freshly made strawberry coulis and crushed digestive biscuits - classic strawberry flavour with a bit of crunch.
For salted caramel lovers
The Golden Boy is topped with white chocolate sauce, salted caramel and caramel swirls - sweet, smooth and slightly salty. A strong choice for anyone who normally goes straight for caramel desserts, with the caramel swirls adding another layer of texture.
For people who like to keep things simple
Sometimes you don't need several sauces, biscuit pieces and chocolate shavings.
Plain Jane Vanilla may be the simplest cheesecake on the menu, but simple doesn't mean boring. Without extra sauces and toppings, the flavour and texture of the cheesecake itself get all the attention — a good choice when you want a classic dessert or prefer something less loaded.
The Grumpy Sprinkler adds white chocolate sauce and sprinkles - simple, colourful and sweet, without combining too many different flavours. A solid choice for anyone who knows they like white chocolate but doesn't want anything too complicated.
How to choose your cheesecake
Still staring at the menu? Start with the flavour you usually choose in other desserts.
- The Oh My - when you want rich Belgian milk chocolate
- The Kinder 2.0 or The OG Kinder - when only Kinder will do
- The Mums Favourite - when you want plenty of pistachio and extra crunch
- The Bronze Bomber - for a Lotus Biscoff fix
- The Rocky Balboa - when you're craving cookies and cream
- The Pink Panther or The Where's Waldo? - when you want something fruity, or try The King of Clubs, The Ace of Spades or The Queen of Hearts for pure berry, lemon or strawberry flavour
- Plain Jane Vanilla - when the cheesecake itself is all you need
And when choosing one flavour feels impossible, the only reasonable solution is to order with someone who's willing to share.
Cheesecake for every kind of night
Cheesecake doesn't need a special occasion, but it definitely improves one. It works for birthdays, family nights, catching up with friends, film nights and those evenings when you've already eaten but suddenly decide you need dessert.
You can enjoy your cheesecake on its own or add a side such as vanilla ice cream, custard or fresh double cream. Extra sauces and toppings are also available when the cheesecake isn't quite loaded enough for you.
Find your next favourite cheesecake
Whether you always order the same flavour or like trying something new every time, there's plenty to work through at The Grumpy Baker.
The real question isn't whether you want cheesecake. It's whether tonight is a Kinder 2.0 night, a Bronze Bomber night or an Oh My night.
